In Today’s episode of “Moment of Truth,” Saurabh and Nick sit down with Dr. Sumantra Maitra, a National Security Fellow at the Center for the National Interest, elected Associate Fellow at the Royal Historical Society UK and senior contributor to The Federalist, to discuss China as a great rival power to the United States, the Ukrainian War and potential for expanded conflict with Russia, and whether or not NATO truly reflects the American national interest. \He is also a non-resident fellow at the James G Martin Center and an elected Associate Fellow at the Royal Historical Society, UK. Dr. Maitra is a senior contributor to The Federalist and The National Interest. He has been a journalist covering foreign affairs for over ten years and has written for The Spectator (both the UK and the US editions), The Telegraph, Washington Examiner, Quillette Magazine, National Review Online, and several other publications. His academic essays and peer-reviewed articles have been published in Canadian Military Journal, Centre for Land Warfare Studies Journal, Political Studies Review, International Affairs, and other journals.
Maitra holds an MA with distinction grade from SMU, India; as well as a Master of International Studies from the University of Otago, New Zealand, with distinctions in International Politics, and Global Trade, where he was awarded a Coursework Masters scholarship. He completed his PhD in International Relations at the University of Nottingham, UK, with a Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship in Research Excellence. His expertise is in great power politics, political theory, cultural dynamics shaping foreign policy, realism, conservatism, reactionary social trends, grand-strategy, and naval strategy.
